A warm, sunny day in January makes me miss the beautiful spring and summer weather. This picture was taken in our playground when everything was nice and green! We will start planting again soon. Ms. Jackie says you have to put out lettuce seed on Valentine’s Day so we will be following her advice again. It worked so well last season that we are looking forward to harvesting the greens and having fresh salads again.
We believe that children need to learn more than A,B,C and 1,2,3. We feel these traits are worth cultivating in our children.
Honoring oneself, others, the enviornment, and authority.
Taking ownership of one’s actions, obligations, and commitments.
Being skilled and imaginative in finding ways to succeed and get the job done.
Adapting and striving for positive outcomes in challenging situations.
Our school building is on the Gasconade County Historical Register. The first part of the building was built in 1908 for grades 1 – 8. The building was a school for 99 years up until 2007, when a new elementary school was built. At the time the district closed the building, grades K-2 were housed here.
Small World Montessori purchased the building on September 30, 2013. We spent approximately 6 months cleaning and renovating and building on an addition. On April 14, 2014, the doors opened to 14 students.
